Pre-School Children Recommended Reading

Everyone appreciates how important reading can be to a child’s education and development. Here at Springfields, we have a wealth of reading materials and activities that stimulate and educate our children and take their imaginations into many far away adventures.

We encourage reading and support our parents with maintaining healthy reading in a family home environment. To this aim, we came across the Book Trust Charity and wanted to share this with our parents.

The Book Trust

The Book Trust is a children’s reading charity. Each year they reach around 3.9 million children across the UK with books, resources and support.

In 2015, the Book Trust compiled a list of the 100 best books for children from the last 100 years. This list was suitable for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers aged 0-5 years. A full listing of these books can be seen here: https://www.booktrust.org.uk/booklists/1/100-best-0-5/

In addition the Book Trust offer practical advise with regard to reading as a family, setting up a great bedtime routine, and how to encourage reading.

Impact and research

Reading for pleasure has a dramatic impact on educational outcome, wellbeing, and social mobility, and is also a huge pleasure in itself.

The Book Trust supports children and families to experience the joy of reading and all its benefits. Find out more about the impact of their work, read testimonials from families and practitioners, and view research relating to their programmes and activities.
